Why the Esbit food jug is perfect for takeaway food
Our food jugs are more than just food containers. They are reliable companions for anyone who doesn't want to miss out on good food on the go. Whether keeping food warm or preparing it directly – our food jugs can do both! Preheat them with hot water before filling and enjoy your prepared meal piping hot from the food jug. Or transform the food jug into a mini outdoor kitchen: With a little hot water and a few ingredients, dishes cooked by themselves will practically cook themselves.
Bushcraft influencer Stefan Conrad sets an example: In his Instagram video, he shows how he enjoys his lunch break on the go – right in the middle of his boat tour.

- Practical & compact: Perfect for hiking tours, the office or weekend trips.
- Easy cleaning: The wide opening makes the food jug easy to clean, even after creamy foods like porridge.

Takeaway food: Three autumnal spring dishes
No cooker, no stove – no problem! With the Esbit food jug, you can prepare your meals directly. Simply add ingredients, hot water, close the lid – and while you're on the go, they'll cook or swell all by themselves.
Here are three simple recipes for takeaway food that you can prepare directly in our food jugs, and the best part: all you need is hot water!
1. Autumnal Apple and Cinnamon Porridge
Ingredients:
- 40 g rolled oats
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- ½ apple (diced)
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- approx. 200 ml boiling water
Preparation:
Place all ingredients in the food jug, pour in hot water, stir and close the lid. Let it stand for about 10 minutes, then your warm breakfast is ready to eat with a spoon. The perfect meal to take with you!
Our food jugs with pressure release button offer several advantages: The lid can be used as a practical bowl and thanks to the large opening, you can easily fill and enjoy your food, as well as clean the container afterwards without any problems.
Our MAJORIS food jug is a bit slimmer and easier to handle – ideal if you prefer something more compact. We recommend pairing it with our lightweight longsoon, which allows you to easily reach the bottom of the food jug.

2. Quick Mie Noodle Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 block of mie noodles
- 1 tsp vegetable broth powder
- ½ carrot (cut into thin strips)
- A few peas or corn
- A dash of soy sauce and sesame oil
- approx. 250 ml boiling water
- Optional topping: Chili oil, peanuts & spring onion
Preparation:
Place everything in the food jug, pour over hot water, stir briefly and let it steep for about 8 to 10 minutes. Optionally top with chili oil, peanuts, and spring onions.
Esbit tip: Ideal for lunch breaks in the office because it is warm, light and filling.

3. Couscous with autumn vegetables
Ingredients:
- 60 g couscous
- ½ bell pepper (diced)
- 2 tbsp corn
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ½ tsp herb salt
- 1 tsp frozen parsley
