1. The classic: Black tea with lemon

Black tea has an intense flavour and a revitalising effect, so it makes an ideal iced tea:

  4. Finally, you can sweeten the tea to taste with a little honey or agave syrup.

4. Setting new trends: Strawberry mint lemon kombucha

Kombucha? This fermented tea drink is a real insider’s tip (for the moment). It has a sweet and sour flavour and when chilled makes a wonderfully refreshing drink that’s healthy too, as it contains a high level of bioactive substances that can strengthen your immune system, your digestion and even your heart.

Ingredients – basic recipe:

  • 1 kombucha mushroom
  • 200 ml starter liquid
  • 1 l tea (cooled)
  • 5 tbsp raw cane sugar

Ingredients – refinement:

  • 350 ml kombucha made from fruit tea
  • 1 lemon
  • 6 strawberries
  • 1 bundle fresh mint
  • 1 kombucha mushroom

Preparation – basic recipe:

  1. Make 1 litre of tea using 5 tea bags of your choice – fruit tea is best for this recipe.
  2. Leave the tea to cool and add the raw cane sugar – this is what the kombucha mushroom “feeds on” during the fermentation process.
  3. Mix the sweetened tea with 100-200 ml of the starter liquid and pour it into a large glass container along with the mushroom.
  4. Close the container with an elastic band and a cloth that is permeable to air and leave the mixture to stand away from light for 5-10 days.

Preparation – refinement:

  1. Pour 350 ml of the kombucha tea into a container
  2. Slice the lemons and add them and the mint to the kombucha tea.
  3. Then halve the strawberries and add them as well.
  4. Leave the mixture to stand for two more days and then strain it through a sieve. And it’s ready.

Finally, here are a few general tips to make your iced tea experience just perfect:

  1. Don’t leave the tea to stand for too long, as this will make it taste bitter (except for kombucha tea). If you would like a fuller flavour, add another tea bag rather than leaving the tea to stand for longer.
  2. Cool down the tea quickly after you have removed the tea bags to prevent the formation of bitter substances.
  3. Store the prepared iced tea in the fridge to keep it fresh for longer.
  4. The tea develops its flavours more fully if you leave it to stand over night.
  5. Do you enjoy iced tea when you’re out and about? Not a problem – just pour it into a ***water bottle. We recommend our ***double-wall Majoris wide-necked water bottles. The large opening makes them easy to fill, and they will keep the iced tea cool and fresh for ages.
